Relaxing at Quinta da Cerca
Entirely surrounded by lush greens, at the end of a sandy road and without any immediate neighbours, you will find Quinta da Cerca, an ideal place to find your holiday peace and quiet. Serenity, safety and intimacy are all key to a stay at the Quinta.
A beautiful pool
On hot summer days, many choose not to go out, but to enjoy the beautiful pool instead. There is space to sunbathe uninterruptedly, or to relax in the shade of the palm trees and bamboo.
A delicious drink in summer
The shade of the covered open bar is a perfect spot to relax too. There are refreshments available as well as atmospheric background music.
This is also where you’ll find the info desk for questions, useful info and tips. You can consult the map with different hikes here as well.
The bar is a popular spot for an aperitif before dinner, or to enjoy the end of the day together.
After a hot day many like to enjoy the pleasant evening breeze and, late at night, the charm and heat of the fireplace.
Short local walks
There are beautiful hikes from Quinta da Cerca, either on the estate itself, or alongside the Rio Cavalos, a jungle gorge with small waterfalls that splits the estate in two. Via small bridges the path meanders to the Vale de Gaios (where you can swim in the basin formed by the river dam). There are two hiking trails that go down the terrain and take you to a different world.
You will find a combination of wild vegetation and impressive rock formations. There’s forests as well as small patches of cultivated land around isolated farms. There is always a village nearby, though. Lots of sandy roads and paths cross this beautiful landscape.
To ensure you do not go up and down the same path or get lost, seven walks have been set out that start at the Quinta with routes between 1-4 hours. You can choose one from the illustrated map at the bar and ask for a photocopy with text and a partially topographic map.
